Isle of Thanet Yomp 2008

The anti-clockwise Yomp around Thanet will take place next year in April on Saturday 12th. The 2007 Yomp was fabulous and particularly notable for a flamingo and King Keith's blisters. Next year's Yomp will take us from Ramsgate through Broadstairs, Margate, Birchington-on-Sea, St Nicholas-by-Wade, Monkton, Minster, Cliffsend and finally back to Ramsgate in time for tea and buns.

If you are interested (or maybe just bi-curious) let me know.

Weekend Events

Parkes, Beth and I spent a lovely quiet weekend together. Friday night was spent in the Monty with King Keith supping lovely Gadd's No. 7 and imperius Top Dog Stout. On Saturday the three of us went to Tesco for our weekly shop - I bought a new cardigan with a furry lining and it was reduced by 20% (price, not length). On Saturday night I dyed my hair to look like a goth. Sunday was spent with Deano and Sarah at their lovely new flat in Greenwich. We did lunch at a restaurant called SE10 which was very tasty. As was my new cardigan. And Dean's new coat and shirt combo. Sunday night was spent eating pork pies and crisps and watching dodgy TV.

Big Cucumbers

Thanet Earth hits the Thanet. Under massive greenhouses Thanet's fields will be churning out salad produce for the UK. They are looking staff to work there as well!! King Keith and I could get jobs measuring cucumbers and ensuring they are EU regulation length. It doesn't get much better than that!

Paris Shmilton. I cannot abide this woman. However Paris has gladly agreed to open my most disliked/liked lists on the left hand side of the screen. Bless her! She is pictured on the left holding up a bottle of her own piss.

After a few busy weekends it was lovely just to spend the weekend with Beth and Parkes. We didn't do much really - just relaxed. Beth has got an appointment at Margate hospital on Monday where we'll hopefully find out a little more about her kidney problem. But she certainly seems okay from these pictures and definitely looking more like a 'Parker'.

Who is this nutter on my left? Oh, that'll be your father.

This is Dave's cat called Psycho. He will drink water from anywhere but his water bowl. Funny things cats.

Ladies: Introducing...

...Iain and Dave. Iain (left) lives in Dartford, Kent. His star sign is Libra. Iain's passions are physical exercise, kung fu, his four daughters and eating hard-boiled eggs. He can be seen here with a minature fudge. Iain's ultimate dream is choosing the number 4 and finding out that it is in fact a gateway to an infinitely stocked fridge to which only he and his cohorts have access to.

Dave is a Leo and lives in Hollingbourne, Kent. His hobbies are all based outdoors; fishing, kites, kite-buggying, photography, walking, cycling, mountain biking, camping - pretty much anything outdoors. Dave's ultimate ambition is to take a prize-winning photograph.

There is currently a fire in east London. My colleague Dave took this picture from our window on the 8th floor in Bishopsgate in the City. At this moment we don't know exactly what is burning but it is certainly going for it!
Parkes, Beth and I spent last weekend at my Dad and Liz's place in Ilkley, Yorkshire. We had a splendid time and were fed beautiful food and drink. My father has started brewing beer at home and I sampled his first real ale offering, entitled 'Red Eye'. It was a refreshing, light beer with a sweet taste and a sour finish. Magnificent!

7 Weeks Until Christmas

You heard me! You can always tell Christmas is near because the Children In Need television 'extravaganza' takes place. Children In Need raises a staggering amount of money every year which is brilliant but I do find the TV show they transmit on the Friday night staggeringly dull. With this in mind and remembering that the participating celebrity entertainers are the ones with the millions, shouldn't the general public make the TV show and the celebrity entertainers sit at home and ring in to donate their cash. Wogan & Ross could slap a couple of million in to get the ball rolling. What about Cliff Richard!? He is loaded and is getting on a bit - he wouldn't miss a million pounds. Howabout Bono!? Surely he could pop a million in the kitty and a couple of pairs of his sunglasses. Madonna?! Simon Cowell?! C'mon people from showbiz-land, flash your cash!

Q. How big is the world's biggest potato?

A. The world's biggest potato was grown in Germany in 1997 weighing in at 3.2 kg.

That's a big potato. I think that we could grow a bigger one in Thanet's rich and fertile soils. Anyone up for it (preferably someone with a spade)?

While we are on the subject of potatoes a topic that divides opinion between myself and Parkes is chunky chips. If you have chips with your meal in Churchill's (Ramsgate) you'll find they are the largest bad-boy chips around - and I love them!! Please tell me what sort of chips turn you on with the Chip Poll on the left of the screen. Remember your vote counts!

Do you remember when bands were this good? Maybe it was because they were the first but I still think are the greatest of all time.
